January 14–staff meeting: A regularly scheduled gathering of coworkers during which the same issues are discussed every time with the same lack of results, the boss delivers a group or individual ass-whipping, and mundane housekeeping information is communicated–e.g., “Please remember we don’t have Christmas Eve day off”–in such a way that it makes all present feel like they are in the third grade.
