I Have a Dream

January 21st, 2008 · 4 Comments

Today, we remember Martin Luther King.  If there’s anyone who’s had a greater, more lasting impact on employment law, I don’t know who that would be.  His legacy is much broader than that, of course, but in terms of what this blog is about, his indelible mark is seen every day.

In my opinion, King was the greatest orator of the 20th century.  There’s certainly room for disagreement on that point, but he would be on anyone’s top five or top ten list.  It’s also my opinion that his “I Have a Dream” speech is his most memorable.  Reliving the event at which it was given seems an appropriate way to celebrate this holiday.

Quite true. One of the greatest communicators and leaders of the 20th Century.

Thanks for comment. I’ve always thought that from a communication and leadership perspective, this speech should be required listening/reading for any class, course, seminar, workshop, retreat, etc. dealing with either subject.
