The Boss’s Daughter: A Short Story
The company’s C-Suite was composed of all men. At regular meetings, it wasn’t unusual for the guys to start with a few questionable jokes, some racy humor and a bit of sexual banter. Boys will be boys, and besides, it was all in good fun.
At one meeting, one of the executives commented on a new woman working in the tax department. “Have you guys seen her? She’s got a body like bodies I’ve only dreamed about. I think she’s definitely taken over the title of best looking, most sexy, hottest woman in the company.”
There were some guffaws, comments about the appropriateness of a cold shower, and playful questions about whether the executive’s marriage might be on the rocks.
The executive who had called attention to the hot new female employee in tax turned to the CEO and jokingly asked, “Are you responsible for hiring her?” And then to close out the banter, he said to the CEO, “If she’s the new standard for female hires, you deserve a raise. No wonder you’re our CEO. Good work, big boy.” Laughter rippled through the group.
The CEO, after a pause, responded, “Well, as a matter of fact, I did hire her. She’s my daughter.”
