Faulkner on Work

September 3, 2008 at 5:08 am by: John Phillips

William Faulkner, the South’s greatest writer, said a lot about life, families, and work. It’s the latter subject that’s the focus of this week’s quote. All sorts of people have said things about work, but not quite like Faulkner said it. Thanks to Cultural Offering for putting me on to this Faulkner quote.

“You can’t eat for eight hours a day nor drink for eight hours a day nor make love for eight hours a day–all you can do for eight hours a day is work.”
